The Tragic Flight of Helios Flight 522 - Case Study

On August 14, 2005, Helios Airways Flight 522 carrying 115 passengers and 6 crews crashed into a mountain in Greece (AAIASB,2006). The flight was scheduled to depart from Larnaca Cyprus for Prague, Czech Republic. During the investigation, the Air Accident Investigation & Aviation Safety Board (AAIASB) found that the loss of cabin pressurization resulted in the depletion of oxygen which incapacitated the crew (AAIASB, 2006). The aircraft continued to fly on autopilot until it eventually ran out of fuel and crashed. All 121 passengers and crew perished during the accident.

About the Blog

Welcome to my blog. Here, I talk about technologies, science, aerospace, engineering and things I found interesting enough to share. The contents posted here are thoroughly researched. Unlike The Diary, I do not share my opinions here. I try to make the content as factual and unbias as possible.

In case you are wondering how I do my research, I often start by watching YouTube videos or reading magazines to get a general idea of what the topic is about. I would then read research articles and expert opinions from credible sources. The sources for my content can be found at the bottom of each article.

Disclaimer: I am no expert in any of the topics I discuss below. However, I thoroughly do my research before publishing the content. If there is anything wrong with my content, do contact me.

About the Diary

books

The Diary is where I share my opinions on certain topics.  Anything that does not fit on the official blog goes onto The Diary. I talk about my perspective on certain things and what I think about them. Here is where I can freely share what is on my mind.

Disclaimer: Since this is of course my opinions on certain topics, do take it with a pinch of salt. You are entitled to have your opinion on the topic and so am I. If there is anything you would like to discuss, do contact me.

About the Author

My name is Indra Adhwa and I am a 20 year old Singaporean. I studied aerospace engineering at Ngee Ann Polytechnic and obtained my diploma in back in April 2021. I love reading and learning new things in the engineering, technology, aerospace and science field. Occasionally, when I find something fascinating or interesting, I would dive deeper into the topic by doing my own research and posting it here on my blog.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge and excitement in certain topics with others. So, in early 2021 I set out to create my own website where I can post my own blogs. I am of course new in the world of blogs but doing reports and research is something I have been doing for a while as this is something that we, as polytechnic students, do very often.

I hope you enjoy my content and learn something new each time you read my articles.
